Naama: So Emo

(no subject)

It's probably masturbatory how, when ever I wind up reading Asperger boards, I'll start ticking off little quirks that I'll recognize in myself, like I'm playing some kind of game. Quirks such as forming words out of car license plates (ours are XYZ-123 format). I don't even remember how long I've doing it, but I not only read every license plate I pass, I memorize them. I turn them into a mnemonic. Do I know why? Not even a little.

And on the flipside I'll sometimes have huge gaping holes in my memory, like I don't remember how old I am or what I city I live in without actually having to rack my brain for it. It's not once that I've lost a detail in the middle of conversation that I might have seen or heard a thousand times. I really shouldn't blame people for finding either my credibility or expertise suspect on these occasions.

Tapping my ear? I love the way tapping my tragus sounds. It's like little explosions in the skull.

Stopping kids from crying by looking at them? This happens especially on the subway. Kids like piercings, I venture.

Oh brain, how I love you. Weather me through becoming the crazy hamster lady.
