Origen(es) corrected the text of the Septuagint(a) according to either the original text or translations, especially that of Theodotion, that were based on it. Words that appeared in the Septuagint(a) but were missing from the Hebrew text he demonstrated with the obelos-sign (÷), the Hebrew words missing from the Septuagint(a) with the asteriskos (*). He also used the same signs to demonstrate variants: obelos marked the the text of the Septuagint(a), asteriskos the better reading.

I thought it was funny.
